HELLO Blogosphere:

Here's your chance to support Limp Wrist, which I am proud to advertise as an e-zine with queer sensibility. At LW we have a number of goals to accomplish, and I consider the main goal to be to offer a scholarship to an LGBT high school senior via a poetry contest. However, we can't offer a scholarship without your help!

Also, I am in the planning stages regarding a chapbook contest sponsored by LW. I am happy to say a distinguished poet has already agreed to be the judge the chapbook contest once we get to that stage. The contest will be open to homo's and hetero's. It is also a goal of mine to raise enough funds to be able to avoid an entry fee for the contest. If you're in the poetry "business" you know contests can break the bank, and I'm not out to break anyone's bank. I'm out to promote poetry and poets, and I will do everything I can to do so.

NY State Summer Writers Institute

Well, I didn't win a scholarship to attend the NY State Summer Writers Institute.

I'm disappointed, but I am still thrilled that Dr. Gylys nominated me--- knowing that my mentor believes in me enough to "put me in the fight" is encouraging and means the world to me.

Dr. Beth Gylys nominated me for a NY State Summer Writers Institute Scholarship. I submitted my application yesterday, and I will find out on March 20, 2008 if I will receive a scholarship. Even if I don't win a scholarship, I won't be too disappointed because I am honored that I was nominated. It means the world to me that I was thought when Dr. G was asked to nominate a student.

Since 2005 to 2007, 58 students received the full scholarships from colleges such as URochester, Temple U, Brown U, Cleveland State, Connecticut College, Stanford U, Sarah Lawrence, Washington U, Wellesley College, Yale U, UMiami, Bennington College, NYU, UMichigan, Boston U, Portland State, and UMaryland. I'd love to be able to slap GSU to the list.

OK... wish me TONS of luck-- I need it! ! !

Six Days Until Key West

I leave next week for the Key West Literary Seminar.

I owe a huge thank you to CK, Lisa, and Dr. G for writing lovely emails of recommendation to go along with my scholarship application.

Also, I owe a huge thanks to the peeps at the seminar for granting me the scholarship because I couldn't attend without it. Special, special thanks to the director Miles.

Poetry, warm weather, and the beach for a week... what a combination! I am looking forward to my first visit to Key West.
